1. Who is responsible
Cameroon Diving Services SARL, Carrefour Eto'o, Bonamoussadi, Douala, Cameroon (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for personal data processed through https://cameroondivingservices.com. Questions about this policy or your data: info@cameroondivingservices.com or (+237) 671 083 030.
We are a commercial diving and ship agency contractor based in Douala, Cameroon, serving vessel owners, managers, charterers and offshore operators in Africa and abroad. This policy explains what we do with personal data on this website; it applies to visitors, prospective clients and business contacts.
2. What we collect and why
We process three kinds of data:
- Enquiries. When you contact us by email, phone, or the contact form (which opens a pre-filled WhatsApp message on your own device), we receive the details you choose to send: typically your name, company, email, phone number, vessel name, port and the description of the job. We use them to answer you, prepare a quote and, if you become a client, to perform the contract. Legal basis: steps taken at your request before a contract and performance of the contract.
- Usage measurement. With your consent (the banner shown on your first visit), we load Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and from which countries, so we can improve the site. It sets cookies and collects your approximate location (from IP), device and browser type, pages viewed and referring site. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage. Nothing is loaded if you decline, and you can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer. Legal basis: consent.
- Technical logs. Our web server records logs (IP address, time, URL requested, browser) for security and fault diagnosis. They are kept for a short period and are not used to profile visitors. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
2a. Job applications, crew and payroll data
If you send us a CV or apply for a diving, marine or office position, we keep your application for 12 months to consider you for suitable roles, then delete it unless you ask us to keep it longer. When we provide recruitment, manpower or payroll services to a client company, we process that company's employees' and candidates' data on its instructions as a processor, under the contract with that client; questions about that data should go to the employing company first.
We do not send newsletters or marketing emails. We may follow up on an enquiry you made, and you can ask us to stop at any time. We make no automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
3. Third-party services on this site
Some pages load resources from third parties, which then receive your IP address and standard browser information:
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (usage measurement, only after you accept analytics cookies).
- Google Fonts (typefaces) and Google Maps (the embedded port map on some pages).
- flagcdn.com (country flag images on location pages).
- WhatsApp (Meta) if you choose to send an enquiry through the contact form or the WhatsApp button. Meta's own privacy policy applies to that conversation.
5. How long we keep data
- Enquiries that do not lead to a contract: up to 24 months, so we can follow up on a vessel's next call.
- Client and job records (quotes, reports, invoices): for the duration of the relationship and then as long as Cameroonian commercial, tax and OHADA accounting rules require, generally ten years.
- Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics for 14 months.
- Server logs: a few weeks.
6. Your rights
Under Cameroonian data-protection law and, where applicable, the GDPR or UK GDPR, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and receive the data you gave us in a portable format. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to the address in section 1; we answer within one month. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiries are handled by a small named team, stored in access-controlled mailboxes and business systems, and are not published. Survey footage, hull reports and vessel data are treated as confidential under our Confidentiality Policy.
8. Children
This is a business-to-business site. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version; material changes will be announced on this page.
